This morning at the office, I realized for the first time the beautiful view of the city.

THAT JUST HAPPENED.

It’s true that a lot of things that have happened online have been in unison with what Lonnie and Kanye were doing musically, respectively and together. I felt good about what I had to say around the time I was listening to Be a lot, wmdeez started popping off when Finding Forever and Graduation dropped, then I stopped everything around the time they dropped Universal Mind Control and 808s & Heartbreak. I feel like everything’s coming full circle, plus they’re about to put out Good Ass Job and The Believer, and I’ve never felt stronger about having this site prosper in the only way I know how.

I’m just tryna get my life together…

I was just riding around thinking that there’s still a few some music that I can delve into and dissect on here. There’s obviously all the music that I knew about but never really listened to (my generation never listened to albums in full, it’s true) and blogging about re-discovering it and at the same time sharing it with people who might also be in my position. There’s also songs that have dropped in the era of music blogs and that no one bothered to touch on because there’s so much fucking bullshit out there (I’ll admit it… I don’t make it.)

Another parallel to wmdeez that I just realized while looking for that Faithful song, is that soon after starting Weapons of Mass Distraction, my computer crashed and I was grinding like crazy trying to find music to post. Youtube, zSHARE and the whole nine. Well, a few weeks ago, the hard drive I just got started clicking, making all the music I had compiled over the past few months disappear in thin air. Which means I’m gonna be pushing mp3s on here as soon as I find em… just like I was doing in 2007.

Last thing I have to say about wmdeez (because I’m only just realizing how much people liked that website through how much they hate this one,) is that I was just a kid with a lot of time on his hands and a hunger to be perceived as all-knowing when it came to music, so I had to do the research to back it up – and fell on so much good shit. Right now, a lot of my time is obviously spent updating the other site, but I’ve come to the realization that rappers really ain’t shit. It’s not just about thinking about what I wanna talk about, it’s also about finding the time to get the mp3s to match it… and I’m not trying to talk about no regular songs to y’all. Bear and I both think I should take this opportunity to post more music shit while he’s emptying his (picture) archives on his tumblr. I’m gonna resuscitate some post formats you haven’t seen in a while.

And yeah, this was another blog post about blogging. It’s almost as bad as rappers who rap about rapping. I’m gonna try to make this the last one of these… but it’s coming, sooner than you think.

Okay, first things first. I have to apologize to our readers for slacking for the last month or so. I don’t know if we can still call you readers if there was nothing up for you to read. Either way, if you’ve been following the posts at Nah, you’ll understand why there was little time left to visit the side bitch. To be completely honest, we never found anything that was really “Calm-worthy” to post. Either way, I’m not trying to make excuses, I come bearing gifts!

But before that, let me get a hand of applause for the Bear jew for holding down the website with his limited Wordpress capabilities and his recently acquired rap knowledge. If you follow him on Twitter, you already know that he’s been going in something serious on his Twitpic account (i.e. posting all the pics that chea implored him not to post on here, no homo.)

Bear and I are both extremely critical minded individuals so we appreciate how critical all of you have been of what we’ve done, or rather haven’t done yet (even if you had to resort to cursing us out, it’s all good) and we intend on keeping the site up to those standards. I preferred not saying anything until I had it figured out. I took a few months to think what about I wanted to do with the site. Although it seemed like a great idea at first, the vision we had for the website got clouded and I sort of lost the hunger that we had the first month we launched, added to the fact that 2010 hasn’t been nearly as promising as 2009 predicted it would be. Had we started this website the first second the light went off, I assure you that I wouldn’t be having these second thoughts. But luckily, I’ve been getting these ideas lately and Bear’s been pushing me to do more music posts. I wanted to leave that life behind at wmdeez, but as of late I’ve been stumbling on songs I had never heard before (who are we kidding, my generation never listened to albums in full,) and just listening to so much good shit that I think that that we might have to give the people what they want. I just thought I’d update y’all on that, not trying to ramble too much.

Now, my good friengs (Mike) at GoodWoodNYC wanted to send me a red Jesus Piece to go along with the first one they had already sent me, but I didn’t think it would be put to good use since I don’t even wear the black one (no John Mayer.) I did, though, think about y’all and asked them to send one over so I could give it away to the people who kept us in their bookmarks and still bother to check up on us. Mind you, they sent this to me last month, I’ve just been a complete dick and been holding out until it was a true deadstock item.

Oh and they asked if we wanted anything #LASERed on it and I didn’t think you’d want something douchie written on the back so they just left it how it is. It might even be a one-of-one since all the ones they sold last week had something written on the back of it.

On another note, I’d like to say that I will eventually find the time to sit down and answer every e-mail we’ve received, even though I have yet to answer one of them. That’s of course unless you sent me music, in which case you’re a son of a bitch. That is all.

Yahright. I think it’s safe to say that it worked, Kanye read Bear’s post and went back to the drawing board. Sadly, pointing the finger at the #2 blog on VIBE’s Hottest Rap Blogs list got us shitted on by the comments. Friday night wasn’t easy, Bear and I got shitfaced, read the comments as they came in and completely rethought our game plan (not really.) Same thing happened on Saturday, so posting’s been slow here too but we’ll come back stronger than ever, on a fucking horse!!

I’ll spare you the trials and tribulations of my personal life, even though they’re very great problems (c) Joe Budden, and just give you the run down of the last year and half of work-related shit that happened this year. I actually have to start this list at the middle of 2008 because that’s when things got serious with Nah Right. What’s funny is last month I was telling eskay what fuckshit went down in my personal life in 2008 that made me finally buckle down and take him up on his offer to work for him, and he told me that that was the same kind of fuckery that made him start and maintain Nah Right in 2005. Thanks to the lames!

Little known fact: as a prerequisite to this job, I had to watch every episode of LOST, which I finished in a month, and it instantly made me a better man and my life better. If you haven’t done that yet, you should get on it now.

Raekwon Shouting out Nah Right

Along with all the great people I’ve had the chance to communicate with over e-mail, IM or Twitter – there’s nothing in my mind that beats 2009. Mind you, I haven’t met most of these people in real life, yet we speak on almost a daily basis.

I like to think that through the work we do at Nah Right, we’ve had a hand in helping all the good things that went down this year in hip hop happen.

I really have to thank my man eskay for giving this kid from Canada a chance, I’ve learned so much from that guy in the past 4 years simply from reading what he writes. God bless Bear for pulling me out of the grave I was digging myself last year and shout out to Drake for looking out last week. He kept his word really helped end ‘09 on a great note.

This was what 2008/2009 was like and I wasn’t expecting any of this to happen, but I still truly believe that this is only the beginning. I’m really just starting to understand who I am, accepting it and beginning to get comfortable with it. As I head into the next chapter of my life, I’m certain 2010 is going to be immense – for all of us. And I promise to stop namedropping in the new year.

Every year around this time I pick something about my life I want to change for the better, never end up actually changing anything  I find that, lately even lying to myself comes easily. Ill keep this years motto simple, Aim Higher.

Posting has bit a bit slow lately, I acknowledge that and I apologize for both of us. We’re at a pivotal moment in our lives right now and we’re still trying to make sense of it all. The future is looking more and more promising but it’s still too soon to call it, and almost too good to be true. If next year never happens, I’m just glad about the way everything happened this year… from meeting up with Bear again to going into overdrive at Nah to the last week that we’ve had. 2010 til infinity.
