Kanye’s Blog
At first I was going to write a huge post about everything that is wrong with ye’s blog but I think I’ll ask the audience on this one. Weeks before Nate and I started the Calm, as field research I sat down and read through all 900 or so pages at home on a Friday night. I had to find out why is it that people keep going back there, I mean it’s not like he’s the one updating the blog anyway… every time I pass the atrium at school I would see little white girls flipping through these pages. No shots to kanye… but how wack can ones universe be?

C’mon man, you and I BOTH know why, lol. I’m not sure your blog caters to the same demographic of readers.
He posts alot of that “Avant Garde” shit peoplw are gravitating to.
Plus, there’s so many c0LoRz!!!
:D

Ye’ obviously has ghost bloggers. The only time he posts something genuine is whenever its in CAPS LOCK.
the only interesting things on the blog are the posts about innovative architecture and the occasional fashion spread.

I don’t care for Kanyes Blog he doesn’t post anything himself except when he wants attention.

He started it around his whole “i want to have weird looking catoons and colors” moment in his life. The problem with the blog is that it’s unreal and people cannot connect to it (except for the females). Its basically for his stans and teenager fans from the female sex.
truth be told: itsthecalm > #2

They do a pretty good job of aggregating a lot of artistic work. Maybe I’m out of the loop, but they’ve introduced me to a lot of interesting stuff. As for the layout, I’m not too concerned since it just comes into my Google Reader :-/

He appeals to a lot of different demographics. You’ll see French fashion one day and Anime the next. I think thats why he gets a lot of burn

No shots? Yeah Right!

the frequency it’s updated.
the variety of subjects of posts.
the (rare) kanye-original post.
the little “kanye-isms” in some posts.

Bear,
In the words of Ryan Bingham, sell it to me. Sell me The Calm. I keep coming back to this blog daily in a similar fashion that I keep visiting faptime daily…expecting that from time to time, I will see a post deserving of a close read or, in the case of faptime, download.
I know most bloggers have too big of an ego to properly respond to a post like mine, but I’m just wondering why Nahright needed The Calm.
January 8, 2010
^Cause it’s “calmer” than Nahright.
Due to it’s popularity, (I assume) Nahright only has time to post any/every new mixtape/freestyle/interview/video, a light block of commentary and keep it pushin.
I’m sure the people at NR would like to sit back and revisit older pieces of music, not even constrained to just hip-hop (Word to Sinatra bein’ on here) and put up in-depth writings about it but the wild demand over at NahRight just doesn’t allow for it…Thus, “The Calm”
Plus, I can’t figure out the comment sections at NahRight for the life of me. At least we’re all on subject here, haha

I would sugest for you to take this post down. For nation’s sake you must.
January 8, 2010
Because he’s famous, and people want to believe it’s him to have some sort of connection. If Wayne or Jay had a blog you can bet it would get the same attention regardless of the quality.

Stop name droppping and commenting about another mans life.

They go to his site simply because its Kanye West and they are fans. Anyone can post the same exact content word for word, picture for picture, and no one care.
January 8, 2010
Yall are gonna hate on thatdude but he has a point. Truth is, nate is my blood brother but this site has not lived up to potential, mainly because it is hampered by its own obsession with its potential.
“Just wait…we’re just getting started…”
Ok so…get started, niccas! Sean price verses and hot broad pics do not a revolutionary blog make.
Contrast that with yeezy’s blog. Consistent. Breaks just enuf new music. Breaks new architecture. Breaks fashion developments. He co-signs fresh shit, and people care, because he’s the most significant pop voice in the world. I mean c’mon, what more do you want? To me his shit is great. But who am I…just one of his millions of readers ;).
P.s. NO SHOTS. I like this blog. But I want to love it. Pause. Saying, though. C’mon nate, c’mon bear. Be great. You can do it :).

instant co-sign with slum. i mean, i have an idea of what this is supposed to be but every time i come back all i see are sean price verses. P is definitely the shit, but 18 OF THEM! come on. outside of the commercial that was put up, i can’t think of anything on this blog that made me think “wow, they may have something here”. This place needs to get off of the fact that it has backing from nahright and the other sites and start doing something.
In other words, stop being the blog version of memphis bleek

“blog version of memphis bleek”
^
*crying*
January 9, 2010
I think the sean price verses are sick. nice fillers between good posts.

Bear asked about the publics opinion on the success of kanye’s blog. He did not ask for your opinion on this blog. If you actually do give a shit and want the calm to be better, email them. Dont put your opinion public, and then say you have love…you want attention.
January 9, 2010
I do indeed love the sean p jump-offs – word life he is easily top 5.
January 10, 2010
kanye doesn’t “break” shit.
he just steals content from other sites and rarely credits them.
he stole the whole visvim preview from inventory mag
January 10, 2010
those are all things that are wrong. what about what they’re doing right? those guest bloggers’ stories are inspiring. Bear’s witty ass tag lines make my day and I sometimes wonder where he gets the pictures to go with it. you don’t love this blog yet because it’s still to young give it time man. i think they’re on the right path man.

^ word.
Aside from his huge fanbase, Kanye’s constantly labelled as a tastemaker by media etc so a lot of people look to him and his site just to find out what’s cool in one hit.
I really can’t front on the site tho, they posted my vid and it doubled the views it had got in the previous 3 months in 2 days. The influence it has over it’s readership is crazy, and bein that i’m from a tiny country on the other side of the world the fact they even found my vid gets mad props.
p.s this site is comin along nice, guest blogs have been killer.
January 10, 2010
Kanye don’t post Sean Price tracks… that’s why i don’t go there… The Calm wins
January 10, 2010
word, i never meant to be hard on this blog. it is indeed still a young, tender, pretty little thing…*grabs itsthecalm’s tushie*…[||]…i expect great, great tings
January 11, 2010
The misplaced and unearned ego of this specific post is the problem with this site, and it’s funny that you asked for hate towards Kanye’s, but got some real real talk from your own. I would listen… they are on point.
Find an original angle (besides: I’m from Toronto and I know Drake, yippee!). Its like Nahright and kanyewestunivercity had a blog baby and everyone thought it would be the cutest little blog baby. Shit, this baby was born prematurely and without a brain!
Good luck… the clock is ticking.

Then take my name out of your mouth son and stop actin like the The calms hype man penis rider.
February 11, 2010
Lol stop actin like you never go there. Its a decent blog, I mean, there’s every kind of posts. The all architechtural thing is cool, of course Kanye doesnt post all things, of course they ain’t got exclusive content but the blog is cool. And plus its supposed to be KANYE’s blog so, might help …
